Reference to the orchids of (then) German New Guinea; text in German (and with Latin terminology), and being band I (volume I) in a larger botanical work edited by Friedrich Fedde; 3/4 leather with maroon cloth sides, gilt borders, cloth title label to spine with gilt titling; from the library of P.S. Lavarack (whose bookplate appears to front pastedown) co-author of Tropical Orchids of Australia; heavy foxing to endpapers, lighter to prelims and text block, mild toning to edges of pages, o.w. G-VG throughout; boards rubbed, leather worn to corners and (heavy wear) along hinges and spine.
