Faces & Figures – Binder of original photographs of male nudes and portraits by Jay Mansfield-Askew and A4 Photo Box with further male nudes and portraits

Hardbound O-Ring binder containing 27 original b&w photos, taken by Jay Mansfield-Askew; the photos are mounted on board and go under the heading ‘Faces & Figures’; 16 are of nude or semi-nude men, both in natural and studio settings, the remainder being portraits and self-portraits; all photos show an obvious talent for lighting, composition, character-study, etc, are generally tasteful, and exhibit an unmistakable style and confidence with the medium; heavy foxing to title page, mounts rubbed and foxed, and with hole-punches worn through; photos with some age-toning, and occasional minor marks to surfaces, but generally Good; also included here an A4 Photo Box with a further 15 b&w photos of a similar nature, nine of which are mounted; 2 of the unmounted are proof sheets with 12 small images each (and with reference numbers in corners), one of the mounted images is a group portrait (of which a duplicate in reverse is also present); another picture is titled ‘Human Figure’ (a duplicate of which is included); 3 of the photos have Mansfield-Askew’s name and address to rear, and 6 are signed ‘Jason’ and dated to lower front; all pictures a little rubbed, some with minor worn patches and foxing; Jason (Jay) Mansfield-Askew was active in theatre, film, light opera, and general cultural circles in Brisbane and Australia throughout the 1980’s – he was Wardrobe Supervisor for 16 Queensland Theatre productions from 1980-1983, and took on similar advisory roles in the Australian film industry.
