Illustrated Modern Library edition of Hudson’s Green Mansions, being an exotic romance of the Guyana Jungle; very scarce in the original slipcase; atmospheric full-page colour illustrations by Edward McKnight Kauffer, and also with some text illustrations, illustrations to boards and title label of slipcase; E. McKnight Kauffer was an American graphic artist best known for his poster art, in particular the posters he produced for the London Underground; half yellow cloth with green title label and gilt titling to spine, illustrated black papered sides; green topstain; black slipcase with illustrated title label (neither slipcase illustration nor illustration to boards repeated in book); bookplate and bookshop label to front pastedown, o.w. Very Good throughout; slipcase rubbed and fairly heavily edgeworn, crack to rear along spine and top edge (overall it’s holding).
