25 Aussie Rules champions provide a chapter each, making for an overall picture of the art of the game (aside: the dustwrapper states that Australian Rules football combines ‘the checker board fascination of cricket with healthy bloodshed’); chapters by Polly Farmer, Ted Whitten, Jack Irving, Bob Skilton, Lou Richards, Sergio Silvagni, Jack Dyer, and many more; the high mark, fitness, wingmen, injuries, great players, basics, repertoire of kicks, handball, etc; illustrated throughout with spectacular b&w pictures; edited by Jack Pollard; Trove states two early versions of this book, the first edition being 1963 followed by a 1964 edition – I am taking this to be the 1963 first edition, as it sometimes (if rarely) was the case that publishers would not date the first edition, but start dating from the second edition onwards; prominent tape stains to endpapers and prelims, scattered foxing, occasional creases to some page, o.w. Good throughout; dustwrapper rubbed, and with one or two short closed tears, dampstain to foot of spine; overall a little musty odour in the book.
