Brisbane author Pamela Davenport’s thesis for her Master of Literary Studies, the subject being aspects of Roman history in the light of The Acts, and The Epistles; Pamela Davenport was a teacher at Somerville House, who inspired generations of students; she was also an enthusiastic amateur archaelologist who travelled widely in pursuit of her hobby; she authored a number of books, including the acclaimed ‘Searchlights, Slate Pencils and Suspicions A Child’s War Brisbane 1939-1954’; the thesis is here given the highest grading (7) with the following assessment “A splendid piece of work, comprehensive, well documented, admirably illustrated, and very interesting”; the illustrations mentioned include a number of original colour photos, taken by Davenport on her many travels; generally good throughout, with some foxing and minor staining; wraps heavily rubbed and foxed, and worn around edges.
