Two often-paired pastoral poems of Milton, L’Allegro and Il Penseroso, accompanied by etchings on steel by Birket Foster; each page is heavy card stock consisting of text and etchings in harmony, all with tissue-guards; boards with ornate blind-stamped borders, and ornate gilt title device to front, gilt titling to spine; all edges gilt; heavy foxing to prelims and some pages throughout, general scattered foxing, tissue-guards with tanning/offset from plates; boards fairly heavily rubbed, and with some edgewear.
