Flat-signed by Ansel Adams to front endpaper; 30 full-page b&w photo illustrations of US National Parks, the formal publication resulting from Adams’s first Guggenheim Fellowship (1946), and including such classic images as ‘Old Faithful Geyser, Yellowstone’, ‘Mount McKinley Sunrise’, and ‘The Teton Range and Snake River’; each plate with titling on facing page; includes artist’s statement, a note on the meaning of the National Parks, photographic notes and data, and a plate-by-plate commentary detailing technical data, such as type of camera, lenses, filters, photographic paper (Kodak Panatomic-X sheet film, Super Panchro-Press etc), plus a paragraph on the specifics relating to each location; finally Informative Notes on the National Parks and Monuments, and a list of suggested reading; original heavy card wraps, comb-binding; heavy foxing to front and rear endpapers, lighter to title page and text block, knock to lower corner, with subsequent mild creases to corners of pages, o.w.
