2nd impression of Tom Quilty’s classic collection of bush verse, beginning with the eponymous poem describing a brutal fist-fight between The Drover’s Cook and Jimmy Underwood; b&w photos showing the author, and some scenes from his cattle station; this 2nd impression was published to benefit the Australian Inland Mission, which was founded to bring medical (and spiritual) care to remote regions of Australia – it’s first superindendant was Rev. John Flynn (aka Flynn of the Inland) who later founded the Royal Flying Doctor Service; some tanning to endpapers and prelims, foxing/offset from photo illustrations, o.w. Very Good throughout; boards lightly rubbed, tanned around edges, spine sunned with some fading to gilt titling.
