The Queen v. Charles Bradlaugh and Annie Besant in the High Court of Justice Queen’s Bench Division, June 18th, 1877

An account of the trial in which Bradlaugh and Besant were prosecuted (and found guilty) for the publication of their pamphlet ‘Fruits of Philosophy’, which was deemed to be corrupting to the morals of youth; this copy has two photographs (woodburytype portraits of Besant and Bradlaugh) hand-tipped and with facsimile signatures to prelims; brown cloth boards with bands and motif in gilt to front and lettering in gilt to spine; 24 page catalogue for Freethought press to rear of text; heavy foxing and offset to endpapers and prelims, with occasional foxed spots in text, o.w. Very Good throughout; boards worn to front and rear along edges (roughly 3cm in from edge of front board, around 5cm from edge of rear board).
